About Nijo Griha Nijo Bhumi
Nijo Griha Nijo Bhumi (নিজো গৃহ নিজো ভূমি — ‘Own Home, Own Land’) is one of West Bengal’s most impactful rural welfare schemes. It provides free land pattas (ownership certificates) and housing assistance to landless poor families living on government or vested land. The scheme aims to give permanent shelter security to the most vulnerable rural households, enabling them to build a life with dignity and legal ownership of their home.
