About Krishak Bandhu
Krishak Bandhu (কৃষক বন্ধু — ‘Farmer’s Friend’) is West Bengal’s primary farmer welfare scheme, providing annual income support and a death benefit to all registered farmers in the state. The scheme covers both landowners and sharecroppers (bargadars) and provides ₹10,000 per year (₹5,000 per crop season) directly to the farmer’s bank account. In case of death of the farmer between ages 18–60, the family receives a ₹2 lakh death benefit — providing crucial financial security.
