NOTIFICATION

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub section (5) of section 55 of the Diamond Harbour Women’s University Act, 2012, (West Bengal Act XXXVII of 2012), the Governor is hereby pleased to appoint the 1st day of February, 2017 as the “appointed day” for the Diamond Harbour Women’s University. Accordingly, the provisions of section 56 of the Diamond Harbour Women’s University Act, 2012 (West Bengal Act XXXVII of 2012), shall stand repealed with effect from 01.02.2017.

In this connection, the Governor is further pleased to direct that the Court (composition is mentioned in Schedule-A) and the Executive Council (composition is mentioned in Schedule-B) of the Diamond Harbour Women’s University shall become functional on and from the 1st day of February, 2017 as per provisions of the Diamond Harbour Women’s University Act, 2012. She First Statutes of the Diamond Harbour Women’s University along with its amendments shall also come into effect from the 1st day of February, 2017.

It is also stated that the Hon’ble Chancellor of the University was pleased to accord his assent to the amendments to the First Statutes which are enclosed herewith and the University is hereby advised to incorporate the amendments to the First Statutes in due course, without making any change in the contents.

The Diamond Harbour Women’s University Council as constituted under section 56 of the Diamond Harbour Women’s University Act, 2012 (West Bengal Act XXXVII of 2012) shall stand dissolved with effect from the 1st day of February, 2017.

The Governor is also pleased to direct that all other authorities of the University, as constituted under the First Statutes of the University, will come into effect from the 1st day of February, 2017.
